About Yardwork
Last updated
Yardwork is a set of 9 free calculators for construction, landscaping, and home-improvement materials. You enter dimensions and see how much material to buy: cubic yards of concrete or gravel, bags of mulch, gallons of paint, sheets of drywall, or deck boards. There is no signup, no email gate, and no paywall.
How the calculators work
- All arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
- Every calculator page opens with a worked default example that is already computed, so you can see a real answer before you change anything.
- Each page shows the formula and the arithmetic for its default example, including unit conversions and the waste allowance.
- Purchase quantities round up to whole bags, sheets, containers, or supplier increments. The raw requirement is shown separately so you can see how much rounding added.
- Product-specific numbers such as concrete bag yields come from the manufacturer's published data, linked on each page. Where a number depends on the product you buy, such as paint coverage or material density, the calculator asks you to enter the figure from the label or your supplier rather than assuming one.
Who runs Yardwork
Pages are published under the Yardwork name as an organization. We do not list named authors yet, and we do not claim field testing or laboratory measurements we have not done. Our editorial standards explain how pages are sourced, tested, and corrected.
How the site is funded
Yardwork is intended to be supported by display advertising. Advertising is not currently running on this site. If it is added, ads will appear below the calculators and within articles, never inside calculator inputs or results. Advertisers have no say over calculations or content.
What the results are, and are not
Results are planning estimates based on the numbers you enter. They are not engineering, structural, or building code advice. Confirm quantities and requirements with your supplier, the product label, and your local building authority. To report an error, see contact.
