# Best Wet Tile Saws for DIY Tile Projects (2026)

Six wet tile saws ranked on their makers' published specs for DIY floor and wall tile, with the cut each common tile size needs worked out.

Buying guide page: <https://www.howmanyyardsdoineed.com/best/wet-tile-saws/> (published 2026-10-06, updated 2026-10-06). This Markdown version has the picks, how they were ranked, their published specs and the figures behind them; product links and the full article are on the page.

## Key takeaways

- Size a wet saw to your largest tile's longest cut: a 12 × 24 in plank needs a 24 in cut lengthwise and 26.83 in corner to corner, and a 24 × 24 in tile 33.94 in.
- For DIY floors with tile up to 18 × 18 in or 12 × 24 in planks, the DEWALT D24000S meets all five of our criteria: a 25 in rip (28 in with a plunge) on a cutting cart, a stand, water containment, and bevel and plunge cuts.
- For 24 × 24 in and larger tile, the DEWALT D36000S's 37 in rip covers the cut, on a 91 lb saw with a stand.
- Lighter 7 in saws suit smaller tile: the MK-370EXP's sliding table cuts 18 in, and SKIL's 3550-02 keeps water near the blade so you can cut indoors.
- Picks are ranked on the makers' published specs for DIY tile work, not on our own use of them.

## How we chose

Ranked on published manufacturer specs and features for cutting ceramic and porcelain tile on a DIY floor, wall or backsplash project; not hands-on tested. Every spec is quoted from the maker's product page or manual and was checked on 2026-10-06. No prices or ratings are shown; the order is a judgment on these criteria:

1. **Cut capacity for DIY tile.** The saw has to make the longest cut on the job. Yes when the maker publishes at least a 24 in rip, 18 × 18 in tile on the diagonal, or no size limit; partly when it publishes less, or only the largest tile its table supports. A 12 × 24 in plank needs a 24 in cut lengthwise and 26.83 in corner to corner.
2. **A sliding cart or table.** A cart or sliding table carries the tile past the blade in a straight line, so long cuts stay straight without guiding the tile by hand along a fence.
3. **Setup and carrying.** Yes when the saw weighs under 40 lb, or comes with a stand and its maker says one person can carry it; partly for a stand without that claim, or 40 to 70 lb without a stand.
4. **Water containment.** Wet saws throw water. Yes when the maker publishes a system that keeps the water at the saw, which is what lets you cut indoors; partly for a recirculating tray; no for a plain reservoir.
5. **Bevel and plunge cuts.** Bevels finish edges and outside corners; plunge cuts make notches and openings in the middle of a tile. Yes when the maker publishes both, partly for one.

## The picks in detail

### 1. Best overall for DIY tile floors: DEWALT D24000S

**DEWALT D24000S 10 in. Wet Tile Saw with Stand.** The only pick that meets all five criteria in full. Its cutting cart rips 25 in, plunges to 28 in and is listed for 18 × 18 in tile on the diagonal, enough for the 26.83 in corner-to-corner cut of a 12 × 24 in plank with a plunge. The D24001 stand is included, DEWALT says one person can carry the 69 lb saw, and it describes the water containment as fit for a home set-up.

Blade and Table Extension.** QEP lists both its rip and diagonal cut size as unlimited, for tile up to 1-1/4 in thick, on a 19 lb saw: the tile slides across the tabletop against a lock-down rip guide instead of riding a cart, and an 8 in table extension supports large tiles on either side. It has a deep recirculating water tray and bevels to 22.5° or 45°, but QEP lists no plunge cut.

Ranked on: cut capacity for diy tile, setup and carrying.

- Blade: 7 in
- Motor: 3/4 HP
- Power: 550 W, 4.8 A
- Rip cut: Unlimited
- Plunge cut: No

### 5. Best for cutting indoors: SKIL 3550-02

**SKIL 3550-02 7 in. Wet Tile Saw with Hydro Lock System.** SKIL's HydroLock system keeps water near the blade so you can cut tile in the room you are tiling. A sliding side extension supports tiles up to 18 × 18 in, it bevels at 0, 22.5 and 45°, and it weighs 24 lb. SKIL publishes no rip or diagonal cut length, so it ranks below the saws that do.

Ranked on: setup and carrying, water containment.

- Blade: 7 in continuous-rim diamond blade
- Tile support: Tiles up to 18 × 18 in with the sliding side extension
- Table: Aluminum tabletop with rip fence and miter gauge

## Frequently asked questions

### What size wet tile saw do I need?

Size it to the longest cut in the job. A cut from corner to corner is the tile's side × 1.414: 16.97 in for 12 × 12 in tile, 25.46 in for 18 × 18 in and 33.94 in for 24 × 24 in. A 12 × 24 in plank needs a 24 in cut lengthwise and 26.83 in corner to corner. Compare those lengths with the rip or diagonal capacity the maker publishes.

### Is a 7 in or a 10 in wet tile saw better for DIY?

It depends on the tile. The 7 in picks here publish 18 in of sliding-table cut (MK-370EXP), tile support up to 12 × 12 in or 18 × 18 in (SKIL), or no size limit on an open tabletop (QEP 700XT). The 10 in DEWALT D24000S cuts 3-3/4 in deep and rips 25 in on a cart, which suits 18 × 18 in tile and 12 × 24 in planks, and the D36000S rips 37 in for larger tile.

### Can I use a wet tile saw indoors?

Only with a saw that keeps its water at the saw. SKIL says the HydroLock system on the 3550-02 lets you cut tile in the room where it is being installed, and DEWALT says the D24000S's water containment allows a home set-up. DEWALT's D24000 manual also says to plug the saw into a GFCI receptacle and test the GFCI before each use.

### How many tiles do I need for a 12 × 10 ft floor?

With 1/8 in joints and 10% extra, the tile calculator gives 130 tiles of 12 × 12 in, 58 tiles of 18 × 18 in, 65 tiles of 12 × 24 in or 33 tiles of 24 × 24 in. Patterns with more cuts, such as herringbone or a diagonal layout, need more extra: see the tile layout patterns guide.

### Did you test these tile saws?

No. They are ranked on each maker's published specs for DIY tile work, and every spec on this page links to the maker's own page or manual. The tile counts and cut lengths are worked out with this site's tile calculator and plain geometry.
